DID YOU KNOW?? That you should complete your FAA Form 8500-8 (Medical Certification Class I, II, III) on line before going to your Drs. office.. You will not have to fill out that long form at the office that you have had to fill out for the past 40 years while waiting for the Dr. !! Do this by clicking on faa.gov at the bottom of this page , then tyoe medical certification in the search block. Look for FAA MedXPress on the certificate page, click on that. You will have to sign up, get a pass word, then fill out and submit the completed form to the FAA...Its Easy. Then go to your Doctors office to get your medical certificate.
DPEinsure - There is now a liability insurance policy for DPEs to ensure someone else will be defending you and paying your liabilities if you are sued in a civil court for incidents or accidents that occur during your checkrides. I know !! you are not the pilot in command. And I don't sell insurance...........................................................................................................................
But if someone sued you, you would have to get a lawyer.. Nothing prevents a plaintiff from filing a suit against you as a DPE, and win or lose, you will still have to pay attorney fees out of pocket. Do any DPEs have this???, I do not, but I have thought about getting it. www.dpeinsurance.com
